Ben built Eulogize after helping his mum organize his grandmother's funeral, and finding the existing tools were not built for that night.
Ben Sutton is a co-founder of Eulogize Memorials and the reason it exists. In 2019, after watching his mum try to create a tribute for his grandmother's funeral, caught between expensive in-house options and design software that made a hard night harder, he set out to build something better: a way for any family to make a beautiful funeral tribute themselves, without cost, downloads, or design skill getting in the way.
As Eulogize's co-founder and CTO, Ben leads the product and the technology behind it. Drawing on years spent building digital products, he has chased one stubborn goal: making Eulogize the simplest way to create a personalized funeral tribute, from a video slideshow to a printed order of service. In the years since, the platform has helped thousands of families do exactly that. He still measures the product by a single question, whether it would have helped his mum on that night, and builds everything from the pricing to the first five minutes around the answer.
Because Eulogize is used at the worst possible moment, Ben is deliberate about where technology helps and where it should get out of the way. He built the model around that belief: free to start, with families paying only when they are ready to download, so no one has to make a purchase decision in the middle of grief. It is as much a position on how a memorial company should treat the people it serves as it is a business model, and it shapes how he thinks about the category as a whole.
That approach has been noticed in the profession. Eulogize's launch was profiled by Connecting Directors, and Ben has spoken about the therapeutic side of building a tribute in a supplier spotlight interview. He tends to describe the work the way he does inside the company: "We built this specifically for funerals from the beginning," and, only half joking, "we beta-test every new product with our moms."
